YULA Boys Athletics Wrap-Up

Congratulations to your YULA soccer team who made the CIF SS playoffs. With a tie against the Oakwood Gorillas, they have clinched fourth place finish in the Liberty League.

After starting the session 16-1, the varsity basketball team has lost four of their last six games and has fallen to fourth place in the Liberty League. With a tough schedule, your YULA Panthers had to play five games in eight nights with four of them on the road. YULA had lost four games in a row going into a tough road game against Holy Martyrs and were able to stop the losing streak. Two nights later, the Panthers continued their winning ways by defeating Glendale Adventist. With YULA playing better, it set up a great game against the New York basketball powerhouse SAR.

Last Saturday night your YULA Panthers competed against the SAR Sting with the #1 national ranking on the line. In a thrilling overtime loss, YULA was defeated by three points. Jack Gindi and Yisreol Solomon had stellar games, combining for 38 of the team's 51 points. This loss will likely drop them to the number two seed in the Sarachek tournament.

The season is not over for your YULA Panthers, as they travel to Ojai in a first-round playoff matchup against Thatcher High School on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.

JV basketball is not the Liberty League champion for the first time in four years. Similar to the varsity team, they had a difficult schedule with five games in eight nights. They lost three of their last five games. Losing those three game cost them a chance at winning another League title. This week concluded their season, in which they went 15-5 overall and 7-3 in the Liberty League, finishing second.
