Panthers win first-round matchup

The YULA Panthers (Los Angeles, CA) started the game on a 14-0 run, and they never looked back in a game that they ultimately won, 57-28. The WYHS Storm (Boca Raton, FL) looked sluggish in the early going, turning the ball over many times in the first half.

YULA was able to open up a sizable first quarter margin with their stifling defense. WYHS shot just 19% in the first half, and YULA was able to capitalize on turnovers.

The Storm were held scoreless for almost all of the first quarter, finally getting a three pointer from Daniel Lasko with four seconds left in the quarter. The Storm put up an additional nine points in the second quarter, but they trailed 32-12 at halftime.

The Panthers shot 85% from the field in the 1st half, and went 3-5 from 3-point range.

The Storm were unable to make a comeback in the second half, as the Panthers began to run the clock.

The Panthers had nine players tallying points, with Avi Zilberstein leading the way with 16 points (6-8 FG, 2-3 3PT). Daniel Lasko led the Storm with nine points.

YULA will compete in a Tier I game on Friday at 9:30 am vs Magen David Yeshiva High School Warriors. You can watch on Macslive.com.
